YOUNGSTOWN — The fire department is investigating the cause of a fire early today that did an estimated $15,000 damage to a vacant home at 88 E. Evergreen Ave.
The blaze, which started in the attic of the residence, was reported at 3:18 a.m. When firefighters arrived at the structure, owned by Gary Crim Inc., fire was showing on the third floor and the door off the back porch. The fire was reported by a neighbor. No injuries were reported.

When will the State Fire marshall start investigating the near-nightly vacant home fires in Youngstown? It only took one small fire in Austintown last Friday to get the State involved. Could this be part of the Youngstown 2010 demolition plan?
