COLUMBUS — Read their lips: No new taxes.
That was one of the messages from respondents to a new statewide survey released Thursday by the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Given the choice between raising taxes to cover state budget deficit issues or cutting programs, 62 percent chose the latter. Only 24 percent preferred raising taxes.

I suggest the 24 percent who want more taxes either send the state more money or the state should raise their taxes and lower them for everyone else. Most of us are already being taxed at roughly 50% if you factor in all taxes. Time for the state to either lay off or the states employees need to bite the bullet and take concessions. Concessions are the norm in the private sector and the time has come for the public sector to experience the same.
Thank you Captain Obvious
The 24% that wanted taxes raised are the ones who pay no tax.
Unfortunately the politicians do not know any other way to cover the defict that to bleed the already dried up turnip called the Ohio residents.
Cuts will most likely come from the police and road budgets. That way it effects the public, hopefully enough for us to agree to the increases.
Freeze benefits-not even the cost of living- on the entitlements and the budget will be fixed in no time.
We're already one of the highest taxed states and guess what people.......we are NOT one of the most prosporous.
One more reason we need a CONSERVATIVE run state congress, Republican or Democrat I don't care, definately conservative.
Politicians will do what politicians do best. You guessed it! They will tax the so called rich which are the working class with a paycheck. Bill Clinton taxed social security and unemployment benefits. Not only will the State of Ohio up the taxes but the Feds will also. Rising taxes are inevitable. They will tell you that tough times need tough measures and you will pay.
