YOUNGSTOWN — A Canfield man is facing arraignment for his suspected involvement in an automobile-related death last month.
Bryce D. Burke, 26, has been summoned to appear in municipal court today on charges related to the death of Andrew Culp.
Burke, of Mercedes Place, Canfield, is being arraigned on a felony count of failing to stop after an accident, said Capt. Kenneth Centorame, chief of detectives.
Burke is believed by police to have been the driver of a vehicle that dragged Culp, 22, of North Main Street, Columbiana, to his death Nov. 29.
A witness called 911 and told the dispatcher he saw a body being dragged underneath the car in front of him in the drive-through of the McDonald’s at the corner of South Avenue and Midlothian Boulevard. Centorame said 911 dispatchers received a call about 1 a.m. alerting them of the car.
One witness said that when the driver was informed of the body, he got out of his car to look, and then drove away without receiving or paying for the food.
When officers arrived, the car already had fled the scene.
The body was found in the westbound lane of Midlothian Boulevard near Euclid Boulevard, about two blocks from the restaurant.
After consulting with multiple witnesses and recovering evidence, Detective Sgts. John Kelty and Patrick Kelly were led to Burke, Centorame said.

Does anyone really believe he did this on purpose then went thru a drive thru??
Believe that he left the scene of an accident where someone was seriously injured? What reason do you have that someone shouldn't believe he did that on purpose? He is being charged with felony hit/skip. I'm sure he was blasted drunk and panicked but that doesn't make him innocent.
Whether he knew the human being was there prior to the drive-thru is irrelelavant. After seeing him with his own eyes he made the choice to disreguard that young man's life by dragging him some more. The young man was still alive when they found him two blocks later. So, please, explain how you believe this can be justified!?!?
i would be amazed if this guy even spends one day in jail.
My mother works at St E's and heard the stories from the people who were working their shifts when they brought him in. I can assure you there was no way he was alive in that condition. They said it was the most horrifying thing they'd seen in their careers or their lives, and they've seen the worst Youngstown has to offer.
My prayers go out to the family and friends of this young boy. Another young life taken. And to those writing hurtful things. It matters not what race, age, gender,or prefrence a human being has lost their life, a family has lost a loved one not by sickness or disease but by another human being. Its not against the law to be black or white , male or feamle young or old gay or straight.. Put your words to use on the person who killed this boy make him the butt of your joke, He is the one who is unlawful.. again all my prayers go out to the family and friends,,,,
Clyde, you are right. I was only trying to make the point that if the driver knew he had run over someone on purpose, there is no way he would have gone thru a drive-thru. Yes he sure did make a bad decision, possibly because he was totally panicked, or "blasted" as someone mentioned. It is still unfair to say this person was the one who killed this young man, until all the facts are known.
one thing the cops and everything wouldn't say he was alive if he was dead.. so i don't care what ppl at the hospital say inless they are the ones there.. second off.. it only looked bad due to all the blood and stuff.. i'd like to know how they could say it was the most horrible... really thats nonsense... the only reason the newspaper said it was unreconiazble was because of the blood... the severe damage was done due to the dragging.. BUrke shoulda stopped when he hit him... but he didn't.. that makes it an accident and a failure to stop i mean how many ppl actually think well the body might get stuck to my car... but once he knew the body was there and still choose to run.. that makes it murder.. to bad ohio ain't got the death penialty.. or did they finaly change that
Is there ANY information as to what REALLY happened, other than failing to stop at an accident? Was it in the parking lot? Was it REALLY an accident (that he didn't see the guy) or on purpose (pissed off, and tried to bump him, but got carried away). Anyone???
