FBI, Hermitage police search for bank robber

HERMITAGE, Pa. — Police and the FBI continue looking for the man who robbed the Citizens Bank on East State Street.

Hermitage police said at 10:28 a.m. today a man entered the bank, approached a teller and handed her a note demanding money. Police said they don’t know whether the robber had a gun.

The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of money, then he left the bank and ran toward the post office, police said.

A dye pack in the money exploded near the post office, and the robber dropped some of the cash in the parking lot.

Passers-by noticed the money blowing around and collected around $1,000. It was turned over to police.

Police believe the robber left the scene in a vehicle because they couldn’t find him anywhere in the area.

Police said they don’t know if the robber has dye on him from the exploding pack.

The suspect is described as near 30 and 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall with a medium complexion and a thin mustache. He was unshaven.

Police said anyone who has information concerning the robbery should call a Hermitage detective at (724) 983-6780 or the FBI at (412) 432-4000.
