AUSTINTOWN— More layoffs lay ahead for 101 employees at Comprehensive Logistics, a company that provides service to General Motors in Lordstown.
A letter to the township trustees cites “unforeseeable business conditions,” along with a GM initiated reduction-in-force order, as the reasons for the layoffs, which will go into effect Dec.23.
The plant, located at 365 Victoria Road, serves the General Motors’ Lordstown complex, where it handles 85 percent of the parts shipped to the plant. Comprehensive sends 480 truckloads of parts to the plant each 16-hour workday.
The letter stated that the layoffs are expected to be permanent.
Trustee Bo Pritchard said what makes the news so bad is that the announcement comes so close to the holidays.
“It’s a shame to hear about layoffs in Austintown, but it’s reflective of what America is going through,” he said at tonight’s trustee meeting. “We rely heavily on the fact that Lordstown is right there, so it’s devastating.”

While the union bears much blame, you do realize to compete with Toyota means nationalized health care, the government controlling your retirement and direct government investment in business. The Prius was basically designed and researched with all government money. Be careful what you wish for everyone.
