Man struck and killed by car as he crossed Belmont Avenue

LIBERTY — A 51-year-old Youngstown man attempting to walk across Belmont Avenue was struck by a car traveling northbound around 6:45 p.m. today and died at St. Elizabeth Health Center. The victim’s identity is being temporarily withheld pending notification of family. The car, a 2004 Mitsubishi Gallant, was driven by 27-year-old Nicholas R. Badila of Campbell, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Warren post. He was not injured. The impact took place south of Fairlawn Avenue. The crash is under investigation.

the man should have watched where he was going. that is a busy road and people run out in front of me all the time trying to J-walk when I am going home from work. I feel badly for the kid who hit him, as now he has to deal with that.
