Published: Mon, December 1, 2008 @ 2:58 p.m.

WARREN — City police are investing a series of robberies and other acts of violence over the long holiday weekend.

No arrests have been made in the three armed robberies reported to police between Friday and Sunday. One man was pistol whipped during one of the robberies.

According to police reports, a 48-year-old Northwest Tod Avenue man was driving in the 1000 block of Tod Avenue at 4:30 a.m. Saturday when a he noticed a woman standing near a pickup truck flagging her arms for him to stop. The man told police he did stop and was approached by two men who got out of the truck.

The victim told police the two men rummaged through his pockets threatening to shoot him if he resisted. The thieves took $50 from the man’s pockets, then left with the female.

Later in the day Saturday, officers were called to investigate an armed robbery at Lil’ Mac’s Grocery Store on Northwest Parkman Road.
