Driver violates one traffic law and gets cited for two

Published:Thursday, August 28, 2008

YOUNGSTOWN — A city ordinance requires that vehicle headlights be turned on a half-hour after sunset.

Roy Perry Jr. of Boardman learned of the ordinance Wednesday when pulled over by police on Glenwood Avenue at 5:44 p.m. A check by police revealed that Perry, 45, of Forest Park Place was driving under suspension.

He was issued a traffic summons for DUS and headlights required a half-hour after sunset and released at the scene. The car was turned over to a licensed driver.

Well worth the print effort.

Does the sun actually set at 5:14pm this time of year?

Another example of live, late breaking and inaccurate reporting from the Vindy's Los Angeles bureau.

Don't understand this one...sunset on August 28 wasn't until 8:01 pm. I think the editor needs his lights turned on. And why is this story newsworthy?
