Pizza Hut delivery woman punched and robbed in Youngstown

Published:Wednesday, August 27, 2008

YOUNGSTOWN — A 28-year-old woman delivering Pizza Hut pizza to a house in the 700 block of East Boston Avenue on the South Side late Tuesday night was punched and robbed, police said.

The woman said a man standing on the front porch told her to come to him, but she agreed to meet him halfway up the driveway around 10:45 p.m. When she drove up the driveway, and the two were face to face, he punched her and she fell back into her car.

Two more men wearing black masks, one with a shotgun, came running down the driveway and demanded the food being delivered and her money. She gave up the pizza order for the house on East Boston and another order plus $40 cash, police said.

The suspects then went through her car and took a bag full of clothes. They then ran through backyards.

Now this crap pisses me off. These no good lazy bums have nothing better to do than to rob a pizza delivery person. It also spoils it for the rest of us who can't get a single pizza delivered before or after dark.

By Lifes2Short (Anonymous) on 08/27/08

Just like those idiots robbing a ice cream truck last week for 7 dollars! a freaking ice cream Truck! Geez......

By JeffLebowski (Anonymous) on 08/27/08

I couldn't imagine how this victim feels after something like this. Horrible.

By zieg2003 (Anonymous) on 08/27/08

Omg I seen that mess, they get a gun throw on ski mask and call themselves gangsters, then go back home living with their mommas. The laws need to change, everyone should have a right to take their guns with them everywhere and teach these wannabees a serious lesson about robbing people for their hard earned money!

Youngstown is like a mini Terrorist cell. The kids never have a chance. They are raised to be thugs and this is the product of it. You have the lucky ones who are brought up right, but that makes up about 10% of them. When are these businesses going to learn that they need to cut off all services to these neighborhoods in youngstown. If they are going to rob you at least make them pay for the gas they can't afford and come to you!

By Enough (Anonymous) on 08/27/08

Can we have a description of the suspects? Thought not!

By zieg2003 (Anonymous) on 08/28/08

What takes me is that whoever called and ordered the pizza set this whole thing up, why not trace the call and arrest them and make them give up some names.

By Hope4TheYo (Anonymous) on 08/29/08

This is sad. I wish we could catch these fools and beat the crap out of them. People are just trying to make honest livings! I do think you should be able to carry a gun with us because we are at war with our own.

I say, for those parents, aunts, grandmas, and other family members that know you've got little thugs around that you cant handle. You better rehabilitate them! You better talk to them! Do Something!

We're tired of all this violence and stupidity because some of you arent raising your kids or telling their dumb butts to sit down and find something positive to do. If you dont straighten them out, dont wonder why "your baby" got jacked up while trying to jack up somebody else. We dont want to hurt anybody but we will! We're taking back our communities!

Classic Youngstown! I have friend that owns a heating/ac business that has entire sections of Y-town blacked out on a map. He won't install or service any units in those areas. As for Pizza Hut, I'll bet that's the last pizza delivery in that neighborhood.

By dmets (Anonymous) on 08/30/08

That's my thoughts too. All these place that have people deliver pizza need to start blacking out areas that are having these kind of problems. Or that would put a person at a higher risk of getting hurt. Business should have the right of refusal to a service as in pizza delivery. This is a sad time. People doing this, stooping to this level! Go find a job make money the right way! That woman is just trying to do her job and make money to live on! Take a lesson for her.

By PEACE2U (Anonymous) on 08/31/08

**Agree ~~ but then that would open another can of worms AGAINST the companies blacking out areas ~~ discrimination.
In time "delivery" will be a thing of the past.
We are in sad times~~

By dmets (Anonymous) on 08/31/08

I just think if a business can refuse service to someone who is being loud and swearing. They can be ask to leave. Or someone can be kicked out of a bar of getting in a fight, causing someone else bodily harm. Then a business who delivers should be about to decide where to and not to deliver! Fspecially when one of the workers is jumped and robbed. That to me is not discrimination, that's protecting the safety of their employees!

By wingnut (Anonymous) on 09/01/08

You talk about blacked out for delivers, next black out for the mail, then you wont need cops in the blacked out sections, city saves money!

How about a good ,old woodshed foot in the a-- for these kids. Stop asking the schools and govt to raise your kids. When they get out of hand give them a hand ,"A BACK HAND".
There is nothing wrong with discipline as long as you do not take it too far. When your kid gets a smart mouth put a foot in his as-. When your kid comes home late ,put a foot in his as-.When your kid does not do the best he can do at school or anything else , put a foot in his as-. Parents you are the ones who are in control not your kids. If your kid is bigger than you get his BIG uncle to put his foot in the kids as-.Parents take control and show the kids who is boss. You are the parent not there best friend.

Simple solution, you order a pizza, you pick it up, like it used to be. Too bad some have to ruin it for everyone. Pizza delivery is a good idea especially for people who can't get there, but until this city gets straightened, everyone must bite the bullet and suffer. Wait, here's a better idea...let's haul the parents into jail everytime their kid does something wrong, sooner or later they will decide to finally discipline their kids.

By dmets (Anonymous) on 09/02/08

I never realized they said that kids did this? The wohole black out the mail area too, that was going too far. Having pizza delivered is not a necessity, it's either a convenience for a person or they are just being lazy. People need their mail dilvered. Pizza delivery may need to be a thing of the past! There are many places that do not deliver anymore or never did, and they do just fine!

By Ytown_born_and_bred (Anonymous) on 09/03/08

Right, who said that they were kids? And we do not need idiots running around with no guns, because that will cause another issue, I shot him/her because I felt intimidated, etc. Don't deliver pizza in the neighborhood. If someone wants pizza that bad, pick it up yourself. It's unfortunate what has happened to the woman, and I hope that she recovers, and to these nuts that robbed her, are you serious, it took 3 idiots to rob her for 40.00, that's like 13.xx each and a meal. And you know, people have been giving their kids whoopings for a long time, does it really work? I mean, when I got whipped, my dad hit me in my hand with a belt or a shoe, or he just made us write I will not...whatever it was we did 100 times. So I really don't think whoopings are much of a deterence.

And to njb, I do not think that kids are intentionally raised to be thugs, sometimes their environment, such as peer pressure has a lot to do with it or the lack of community resources as well.

By clayor (Anonymous) on 09/04/08

Kids are not raised to be thugs....they are just NOT raised. People have kids for the wrong reasons.....like look at me, I have 3! They do not care how many kids they have , it is a status symbol of how many they were able to create, period. They could care less what happens to them, who and how they get raised, and these girls are just as much to blame for falling for these guys who care less, but end up with the brunt of their pleasure and not caring for the kids either.Everyone thinks this is a game...let's have the most babies.......but nobody ever thinks about those babies when they grow up..in the end these kids KNOW they were never really wanted and turn out to be thugs, to get the attention they never got, and round and round it goes.a continuous circle......look around when you go places , what do you see? Young girls with babies, on Welfare, no father in sight. Hey guess who is paying for this?? This is a lose , lose situation.

This is the death of youngstown. Why would anybody do business there? These punks need a shotgun to rob a girl! Cowards. As for how she feels: devastated. If she has the choice, she'll stay the heck out of areas like that for ever. If she has children, she'll get them out. Only the thugs will be left; then they'll move to the west side to rob and kill there.

Lack of community resources? Don't blame this on someone else. What guy is so cold as to punch a woman in the face to get a free pizza? Anyone who wants a job can get one to get $40. Unless the city comes down hard on these monsters, everyone with talent and resources will go elsewhere. If you see boarded up commercial properties, this is why. Who wants their children living in that neighborhood?

By clayor (Anonymous) on 09/07/08

Tree.......listen up......this city does nothing, never did anything and never will do anything. You are absolutely correct, this city is DEAD and is NOT coming back. It needs to be buried once and for all. All the "pretend" festivities in the world are not gonna make it work. It is OVER. In another 10 years the riff raff will have taken over completely (they are doing a good job so far), and the mayor whoever that might be will still be looking to the future for the city to make a comeback. It will never happen in our lifetimes. No business wants to come here, we are the laughing stock of the nation, nobody wants to buy homes here, they may be cheap but where are they going to work? The schools are new, but attendance is low, as is teacher morale. If I were Ms. Wendy Webb I would be looking to place my talents elsewhere, she has got to know she is beating a dead horse. I was once part of the system, I had to give it up. Teaching in Y-Town is NOT teaching, it is maintaining order, which is the job of the police, not teachers.Everything here is a total disaster, from the bottom up. We will soon be another Detroit. Nothing to be proud of.

By OldManGrump (Anonymous) on 09/07/08

This incident just continues to point out all the crime issues in Y-town that Mayor Jay and Chief Jimmy continue to fail to address and why Y-town is dying BIGTIME. Were talking someone losing their life over $40 and a couple of pizzas. It's pretty sad when pizza can't be delivered safely in your city. If I were Pizza Hut, there would be pickup only in Y-town in the future just like Detroit does so that I don't have to equip my delivery drivers with bullet proof vests and CCW & permit.

What has Mayor Jay done about crime in Y-town - NOTHING !!!!

By clayor (Anonymous) on 09/08/08

Absolutely right Grump, not to mention that poor guy from KFC, whose life and his family's lives are changed forever thanks to some crud who now want their trial moved.....they deserve the same punishment they doled out, not a "fair" trial. Why should any of them be treated fairly, who did they treat fair?? Does Mayor Jay NOT see this?? Crime is running rampant, listening to the police calls tonight....30 shots fired on Waverly, I don't think there is a target practice range there. Fire back, for God's sake. This politically corectness has gone too far and is backfiring big time. What has to happen before someone has the guts to stand up for the police and the citizens? Who is the person that will? This will continue to escalate until something really BIG happens, at which time it will be too late.

By Ytown_born_and_bred (Anonymous) on 09/10/08

Tree, I am not blaming this on anyone else, at all. The people that did this are solely responsible. However, our environment, peers, can mold our behaviors as well. The community resources that I was referring to, would be, after school programs whether they be in thru the school districts, the churchs, the Associated Neighborhood Centers, Boys and Girls club, the athletic programs that the Associated Neighborhood Centers participated in: the JJC League (and b4 you start screaming over the JJC League, it is not designed for juvenile offenders, anyone could participate) that held sports for volleyball, softball, and flag football. I do not think that these exist anymore, I could be wrong. I don't know what occurs in the suburbs, maybe the kids used to come straight home from school, did their homework and never did any wrong, I could be wrong though.

By clayor (Anonymous) on 09/10/08

Y-Town....you are dreaming, these kids DO NOT want to participate in anything but gang warfare and pulling up their pants, and their parents allow it, if they have any. Get out of the past. These kids barely attend school, let alone go straight home to do their homework. Are you a Cleaver?
