Man indicted on aggravated murder

Published: Fri, April 11, 2008 @ 12:00 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County grand jury indicted Reginald K. Everson on an aggravated-murder charge with a gun specification in the March 30 death of Terrell L. Roland.

Everson, 21, of West Chalmers Avenue, faces a possible life prison sentence in the fatal shooting of Roland, 18, of East Avondale Avenue. Roland was shot twice in his driveway and died on the night after the shooting in St. Elizabeth Health Center. The indictment was handed up Thursday.

Everson, who had been free on $15,000 bond since July 2007, surrendered to police April 1.

Everson is charged with aggravated robbery in a case that involves the shooting death of an Auto Zone store clerk on the city’s East Side in May 2006. Two other men are charged with murder in that crime.

Besides the aggravated-murder charge with the gun specification in the Roland case, the grand jury also indicted Everson on an illegal-gun-possession charge because of his involvement in the Auto Zone case.

this was my nephew that this young man murder. i feel sorry for his family for what they are going through. but my family is really going through. why? because this young man from what i am hearing should have never been out on the streets due to the fact that he was already involved in another murder about 1yr. & a half ago. you tell me who gave the authority to allowed him out on any kind of bond. so from my understanding he had made a deal to turn state against the guys that he was with in the prior case. you know i understand trying to solve or make a case but to what another person life. come on now somewhere down the line there must & i am sure that there could have been another way. maybe your officials need to think about deals & on what methods they use just to make a deal. my nephew was living in columbus with my neice & my self trying to make something of his self. getting ready to graduate form licking heights in columbus in may 31st of this year & from there he was talking about enrolling in barber school. but thanks to mr. everson & the mahoning valley jurdicial system & building a case, HIS dreams will never be fill. or for that matter his mom & dad will never see that smile, graduation, wedding, grandchildren, etc. so i just ask that the next time you all think about deals & deals & then think about the familes & what we are going through will be going through for a long time.

This type of violence needs to stop! The pain this young man has caused my family runs deep. Rell was my first cousin---he was taken from us so abruptly. I hope this guy gets no mercy at all from the courts. Though 5 lifetimes in jail could never replace our Rell. =(

A low bond in a murder case is just a license to kill again .

Actually, it was the OTHER murder charge for which he was released $15k bond:

http://courts.mahoningcountyoh.gov/pa...

Per the docket, bond was set at $3 MILLION. On 6/29/2007, the 'Honorable' Maureen Cronin ok'd releasing on $15k.. pursuant to "Criminal Rule 8" - the same justification of "reasonable bail" that had been given for reducing Jamar Houser's bond.
