Raid leads to arrest of 3 on drug charges

Published: Sun, April 6, 2008 @ 12:10 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Two Youngstown men were arrested on drug trafficking charges after a federal task force raided a Crandall Avenue home.

Agents were targeting the home for suspected drug activity when a car was spotted leaving the home about 4:30 p.m. Friday. Youngstown police said they stopped the car on Martin Luther King Boulevard after the driver failed to signal a turn.

A bag of suspected cocaine was found in the car. The driver, Gary Evans, 30, of Leetonia, was charged with possession of cocaine and driving under suspension.

The DEA then entered the Crandall Avenue home with a federal search warrant and arrested two men — David Hagens, 39, of Benita Avenue, and James Spires, 25, of Catalina Avenue.

Inside the house, agents found 29 small bags of crack cocaine packaged for sale, numerous loose pieces of crack cocaine, a bag of powder cocaine, a scale and loaded handgun, reports said.

thats pure bunk. the feds raided, it has nothing to do with state police.
aside from that the war on drugs is crap. just another way the govt is making money off you.
70% of the jail populations are weed related crime. with that many people in there you can obviously see the govt. isn't working for the people, and have their own agenda with pharmacudical companies. why do you think theres so many ads on tv telling you to buy drugs.

i have a resolution to this problem. legalize drugs! then you won't have people hiding in the darkness.
there will be alot less violence when u can legally tell the police that someone has ripped you off, rather then having to take the law into your own hands.
not only that but think of all the tax dollars we wouldnt have to pay on gas, if they taxed drugs.

i really think that you need to check the task force & the ypd & see how many are clean. then we can talk the drug users & what not. it is not the town per say or the residence but what the official alloweds. get with your officials before you throw blamed on the whole town.

I do not know where to begin with the aforementioned illiterate comments. They are really not worth addressing. A fine example of the product of Youngstown City Schools.

I love these articles. They put this crap in the paper to make YPD and the FEDS look like they did somthing great.
They bust a nobody w/ a little crack and in the same motion put the dope back on the street to get the next nobody. They can get those guys on any given street in y-town.They need to go straight to the source and get the REAL TRAFFICKERS.But why get the traffickers when they can overload the jails w/crackheads,feed'em for a few days take their money and throw'em out.
