Easy Street’s ‘Miracle’ returns
YOUNGSTOWN — Tickets are now on sale for what has become a holiday family tradition: Easy Street Productions’ annual Christmas spectacular “Miracle on Easy Street.”
For the past 19 years, Easy Street’s “Miracle” has grown in popularity as well as scale. When originally staged at the Uptown Theatre in 1989, the cast consisted of eight performers with a seating capacity of 275 a show. Last year’s extravaganza featured more than 100 singers, dancers and “Little Rascals,” with some performances topping 2,000 in attendance.
Unlike other holiday offerings, “Miracle” is constantly evolving. Last year alone Easy Street added nine new songs and dance routines.
While there have been many changes over the years, some aspects remain the same. Easy Street co-founders Maureen Collins and Todd Hancock will once again host the event with vocalists James McClellan, David Jendre, Illa Willis, Colleen Crish, Katy Collins and Candace Campana. Musical Director Jeff Sanders will also return with the Easy Street Little Big Band.
The 2007 production will boast the largest cast yet with 60 Little Rascals and more than 50 dancers from studios all across the Valley. The choreography by Renee Rogers will feature a wide variety of styles including tap, jazz and hip hop.
This year, a special Thursday night performance at 8 p.m. Dec. 13 has been added to benefit the United Way. Other show times include 8 p.m. Dec. 14; 2:30 and 8 p.m. Dec. 15; and 2:30 p.m. Dec. 16. Tickets are $25 ($20 for seniors/students and $12 for children 12 and under) and can be purchased at the Easy Street Box Office, 865 Mahoning Ave., or charged by phone at (330) 743-8555.
