YOUNGSTOWN — A 35-year-old Midlothian Boulevard woman has been sentenced to four years in state prison on a felonious-assault charge stemming from an Oct. 16 shooting in the 2000 block of Summer Street.
Monique Clinkscale, who pleaded guilty to the charge Jan. 24, drew the sentence today from Judge R. Scott Krichbaum of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. The victim, Nakita Skinner, 31, of Summer Street, was shot in the back.
Witnesses said Skinner told them occupants of a van she noticed cruising around the area might have a dispute with her. The van stopped in the street; Skinner approached the van; and an occupant emerged, firing a handgun as Skinner walked away, witnesses said.
In another sentencing today in common pleas court, a carnival ride operator is on his way to prison for four years for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor — a 14-year-old girl — at the 2006 Canfield Fair.
Judge Maureen A. Sweeney imposed the sentence on Jermaine A. Jones, 31, of Orchard Grove Avenue, East Liverpool, who had been convicted in a December jury trial.
As a sexual predator, Jones must register with his local sheriff when he leaves prison and every 90 days thereafter for the rest of his life. The victim told police she met Jones at the fair, and he took her to his bunkhouse, where the sexual activity occurred.
