Man turns himself in on 2006 title tampering warrant

Published: Tue, July 31, 2007 @ 2:05 p.m.

BOARDMAN — A Bronx, N.Y. man turned himself in to police on a 2006 warrant, accusing him of tampering with records.

A preliminary hearing for Carlton Williams, 32, is set for Aug. 28 in Mahoning County Area Court.

On Nov. 25, 2005, an employee of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles License Center on U.S. Route 224 said that two men, one of whom was identified as Williams, presented what appeared to be a forged title New Jersey vehicle title trying to get a temporary license plate from the bureau.

The document had what looked like correction fluid used to cover the original identification details of the vehicle. Information was then retyped over the area.

When the employee questioned the two men about the title’s authenticity, they left.

A warrant for Williams was issued in March 2006. He turned himself in Monday and was released on an $800 bond.
