Drive-through prayer? Yep, in Youngstown

Published: Tue, July 31, 2007 @ 2:19 p.m.

YOUNGSTOWN — Pull over and pray with the drive-through prayer group, an outreach ministry of Christian Revival and Discipleship Center, 3300 Hudson Ave.

The group takes to the streets at 5:30 p.m. Fridays. This week, they’ll set up in the parking lot of Rainbow Muffler, 2704 South Ave.

The number of participants fluctuates from 20 to 30 people and they hail from CRDC and other churches. Sessions last about three hours.

Coordinator Monica Phillips, who began the innovative project a month ago, promotes the group's prayer effort with the slogan, "Drive-through prayer ... walk-ups are welcome." The group believes that prayer can promote change and takes its message to areas plagued by crime and violence.
