TMH and cancer center OK collaborative deal

Published: Thu, July 26, 2007 @ 3:17 p.m.

WARREN — An affiliation between Trumbull Memorial Hospital and University Hospitals’ Ireland Cancer Center in Cleveland will result in expanded cancer treatment at the local hospital.

Forum Health, of which TMH is a part, announced the agreement Wednesday.

Forum said TMH’s affiliation with a major academic and research institution such as Ireland means that area cancer patients will have local access to the latest therapies, clinical trials of new drugs and treatment studies, and a full array of leading diagnostic tools for lung, breast, brain, skin gastrointestinal, prostate and other cancers.

Located on the campus of University Hospital’s Case Medical Center, Ireland is a nationally recognized cancer treatment center, one of   40 Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the United States so designated by the National Cancer Institute, said Dr. Keith T. Ghezzi, Forum president and chief executive officer.
