Published: Tue, July 24, 2007 @ 10:30 a.m.

WARREN — A Warren man says he crashed his car into a tree after being shot at by a group of people early this morning.

The 28-year-old man told police that he and his 25-year-old girlfriend from Warren were in a downtown tavern about 2:30 a.m. when he had an altercation with some people from Youngstown.

The man said he got into his car with his girlfriend and began driving. They were shot at while being pursued by the group in a vehicle. He lost control of his car when something struck the back bumper, and the car struck a tree in the 1600 block of Deerfield Avenue. Both the man and his girlfriend refused medical treatment.
