YOUNGSTOWN — The North Side Pool, closed last summer and for most of this summer, is set to reopen Friday.
“It’s been a long road,” said Jason Whitehead, the mayor’s chief of staff/secretary who is serving as interim park and recreation director. “The kids will be happy. There’s a brand new pool on the North Side.”
The new main pool project is done and filled with water, Whitehead said. A play pool that includes splash pads that shoot streams of water was recently painted and will be filled either later today or Wednesday, he said.
State and city health inspectors will check the pool Thursday. If everything goes according to schedule, the facility will open Friday, Whitehead said.
