YOUNGSTOWN — The ninth annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel Italian Festival opens Thursday and runs through July 29 on the parish grounds, which is on Via Mount Carmel near Choffin Career Center.
Last year, more than 10,000 people attended the event.
Festival Chairman Tony Trolio of Poland, who is anticipating record crowds again this year, said there will be plenty of parking and security to handle the throng.
A portion of the parish parking lot will be used, as well as the parking lots at United Way, St. Cyril & Methodius Church, IBM Building, Levinson Tire, Advantage Vinyl, P&L Heating and the YMCA. A fleet of buses and golf carts will shuttle festivalgoers for free.
