Two fire bombs in Warren

Published: Fri, July 13, 2007 @ 1:12 p.m.

WARREN — Firefighters were called to two Brier Street Southeast homes early Thursday for pipe bombs that exploded in and near vehicles. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters responded to 2145 Brier   at 4:17 a.m. after a fire was reported in the trunk of a vehicle parked there. The fire, which investigators determined was caused by a pipe bomb, damaged the rear lights, inside of the trunk and the trunk lid.

About an hour later, authorities were called to 2215 Brier, where the homeowner smelled fire near her Jeep Cherokee. Firefighters found what appeared to be an exploded pipe bomb next to the vehicle. No damage was done to the house or vehicle.
