CLUB CALENDAR | Area groups announce meetings

Club news is published Friday and Saturday. Please submit information about upcoming activities to the Society Department by 5 p.m. Thursday.

ASSOCIATIONS

William Penn Fraternal Association, Branch 28, will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Eat’n Park in Boardman. Plans will be made for a golf outing, bus trip and convention.

ATHLETIC GROUPS

McDonald SIdeliners will meet at 7 p.m. Sunday in the high school weight room. Anyone interested in becoming a member is welcome to attend.

CLUBS

Casa Savoia will meet at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday for a catered picnic at the Veterans Pavilion in Boardman Township Park. Reservations are to be made with Yole Conte, Clara Merlo or Roseann Garritano.

Chapter CE of PEO Sisterhood will meet Wednesday at A La Cart in Canfield for a noon luncheon meeting and program on Morocco by Lynn Doyle Pebworth and her husband, Tom Pebworth. Karen Matthews and Carol Richards will serve as hostesses.

FRATERNAL GROUPS

Croatian Fraternal Lodge 598 will meet at 12:45 p.m. Sunday in the senior citizens room at the post office building.

RELIGIOUS GROUPS

Diocesan Legion of Mary Curia will meet at 12:45 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church hall. New members are welcome. For more information, call (330) 743-3977.

McDonald Knights of Columbus will meet at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the K. of C. Hall, Illinois Avenue.

St. Rose Quilting Group meets at 10 a.m. every Wednesday at the parish house.

SERVICE CLUBS

Girard-Liberty Kiwanis will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at The Golf Dome, 1300 N State St.

SINGLES

D.A.R.E., a social group for divorced, widowed or separated people, will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road. Other activities include: Sunday, dancing at 7 p.m. at Choices at the MetroPlex; Monday, bike riding at 6:30 p.m. at Kirk Road, Austintown; Tuesday, dance lessons with Judy Conti at 7 p.m. at Wedgewood Plaza, $5; Wednesday, walking at 6:30 p.m. on Mill Creek trail; Thursday, new-member meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the church; and July 20, cheap movies at Boardman at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call (330) 757-1440, (330) 729-0127 or (330) 793-1484.

Parents Without Partners, Portage County Chapter 600, will have a Swiss steak dinner at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 4 followed by a dance from 7:30 to 11:30 at Kent VFW 703 post home, 500 VFW Parkway, Kent. Nonmembers are welcome. The cost is $15, and reservations will be accepted at (330) 296-6022 until July 27.

Single For Any Reason has planned the following events: Saturday, dance to Road Work Band from 1 to 11 p.m. at Avon Oaks, Warren, $7 cover; Monday, newsletter deadline; Thursday, dinner at 6 p.m. at Tavern by the Lake; and July 20, play cards and steak fry at 6 p.m., take dish to share and meat of your choice. Alzheimer’s Assistance and Referral Network, 4212 Market St., Youngstown, has scheduled the following meetings: Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Girard Public Library, 105 E. Prospect St.; Wednesday at 7 p.m. St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 E. Market St., Warren; Thursday at 6 p.m. at Sunrise Assisted Living, 335 W. Alzheimer’s Association Caregiver Support Group will meet at 2 p.m. Monday at the Antonine Sisters Adult Daycare Center, 2691 N. TOPS 1262, McDonald, will meet Wednesday in the senior citizens room at the post office building. Weigh-in is from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., and the meeting will follow. New members are welcome.
