Revella leads Simon Roofing into playoffs

STRUTHERS — Ross Revella capped a two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning with an RBI single, qualifying Simon Roofing for the Class B playoffs in a 2-1 victory over Livi Steel Sunday night.

Matt Durkin singled to lead off the seventh, then Mark Novotny followed with a hit. After an intentional walk, a bases-loaded walk drove in the tying run, setting the stage for Revella’s hit.

Matt Kirkwood had two hits for Livi and Bob Revesz hit a double.

Action Physical Therapy 8,

Astro Falcons 4

Kent Denbow went 62⁄3 innings, striking out three for Action.

Josh Fyffe had two hits and Josh Harkulich had a key hit for Action.

Astro’s Joe Koch and Dave DeJacimo had two hits each. One of DeJacimo’s was a triple.

Dave Sugar 6,

Youngstown Express 1

Justin Shaffer had three hits and Eric Pirtz added two for Dave Sugar, as Jeremy Savaet won his third game of the summer.

Zach Kepple went 3-for-3 with a triple for the Express.

R&J Trucking 12, Wharmby 1

Joe Iacobucci had three hits, including two doubles, while Ed Rohan and Scooter Hargate had one double each for R&J. Matt Pitzullo and Joey Wielbruda both singled twice.

Cory Johnson hit a double for Wharmby.

Roth Bros. 3, Rondinelli 1

Andy Peretic had three hits, while Joe Novak and Pat Mulligan both doubled to lead Roth.

Jeff Miller (2-4) outdueled Jim Kinnick (4-1) on the mound.

Tony Brunetti and Chuck Olesky had two hits each for R&J. Marc Kanetsky hit a triple.

Class AA

YOUNGSTOWN — Jason Martin had three hits, including a double, to lead McMurphy-Penn Ohio to a 9-6 win over PI&I Express Sunday at Pemberton Park.

Kyle Rupp added a pair of singles for M-PO, while Rob Sullivan, like Martin, had two RBIs.

A.J. Pulice had three singles and two RBIs for PI&I.

Reds 4, McMuphy-PO 3

YOUNGSTOWN — Phil Ciprian had three hits and Kyle Pitts had two, including a double, for Reds.

Lou Kopachy and Tom Enyeart hit doubles for M-PO.

Mahoning Valley Knights 6,

Tri-County 5

WARREN — Manoli Pahoulis hit a a pair of doubles and Rick DiMuzio and Tom Williams both singled twice for the Knights.

Steve Boxler and Torrie Frangiamore added doubles for the Knights.

Branden Schoff doubled and Ricardo Duany hit two singles for T-C.

Champion Marlins 4,

Youngstown Tamburros 1

WARREN — Tom Popadak struck out nine over seven innings and Bill McCartney finished up to earn the save. They combined on a four-hitter.

Lance Townsend went 2-for-3 with a triple for Champion. Travis McCartney and Jason Johnson added doubles.

Scott McDermitt doubled and singled for Tamburros.

Roth Bros. 10,

Callahan’s Irish Pub 0

WARREN — Dave Yost tossed a complete-game four hitter.

Mike Sikorski went 4-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Shane Davis went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBIs.

George Rohan and Eric Barone added two singles each, and Rick Gozur doubled.

Nick Pompeo hit a double for CIP.
