Scrappers’ uprising falls short, 6-4, in Auburn

Mahoning Valley has lost three straight games and is 21⁄2 games out of first.

AUBURN, N.Y. — Too little, too late.

Castillo finished with two hits and Justin Jenkins added three hits and an RBI for Mahoning Valley (6-7), which has dropped three straight games and now sits 21⁄2 games back of Williamsport in the Pinckney Division standings.

Manuel Rodriguez had the big blast, hitting a three-run homer in the first off Miller.

Jonathan Arencibia had two hits and scored a run to lead the Doubledays (7-6), who are 11⁄2 games back of the Crosscutters.

Adam Rogers (1-0) pitched 31⁄3 innings of relief, giving up two runs to get the victory.

Ronald Lowe pitched the final 11⁄3 innings to earn his fourth save.
