State police says Warren cop at fault
WARREN — A city police officer has been cited for not using proper care when his cruiser collided with another vehicle while he was responding to a burglary call.
Patrol Officer Jeffrey Edmundson was charged by the Ohio State Highway Patrol with not proceeding with caution, a misdemeanor that carries a $150 fine.
The patrol said at the time of the crash on Jan. 16 that Edmundson was responding to a burglary at Thomok Duma Fine Jewelry, 115 W. Market St. A thief ran off with 28 watches valued at $65,290.
Although Edmundson had the cruiser’s overhead lights and siren activated, he drove his car through a red light at East Market and Chestnut Avenue. Neither Edmundson nor the other motorist was seriously injured.
