Bolindale grant to be topic at meeting

HOWLAND -- Howland Township trustees and the Trumbull County Planning Commission will be hosting a public meeting at 7 p.m. Feb. 8 at the township Administration Building, 205 Niles-Cortland Road, to discuss the needs of the Bolindale neighborhood in preparation for a state grant application.
The neighborhood surrounds the former Bolindale Elementary, now Trumbull Business College, in the southwest part of the township.
The planning commission plans to apply for a Community Distress grant to make infrastructure and housing improvements in the area.
The more people who attend the meeting, including children, the more citizen participation points are awarded to the grant request and the greater likelihood that the grant will be approved, explained Julie Green, grants coordinator for the planning commission.
She said the Bolindale area includes the streets of Elizabeth, Athens, Barder, Harvey, Republic, Broadway, Bolin, Orchard, Fairview and Valacamp between state Route 169 and Ridge, Center (Howland Township section only), Virginia, Hillside, Ridge (west side from Valacamp Avenue Southeast to Warren city limits) and both sides south of Valacamp to state Route 169, Valacamp (south side ending at Boston), Woodbine (between state Route 169 and Boston), Highlawn (west side from Deforest to Overlook and both sides north of Overlook to Oaklawn, Oaklawn, Overlook (north side only), Flory (between Overlook and Oaklawn), Evergreen (north of Overlook), and Boston (west side from Overlook to Valacamp).
