Local Scout delivers cookies on 'Ellen'

NILES — A Girl Scout from the Lake to River Council is helping comedian Ellen DeGeneres satisfy a cookie craving.

Alexis Moyers, 10, of Geneva, delivered 1,000 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to DeGeneres Monday during a taping of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,”   which was broadcast   on WFMJ   this afternoon.

Alexis and her mother, Rachael, had sent an e-mail asking DeGeneres to buy some cookies to help pay for a trip to New York for Alexis’ Ashtabula-based troop, said Lorilyn Shandor of the Lake To River Council, based in Niles.

Alexis’ decision to contact DeGeneres “showed true courage and ambition,” Shandor said in a news release.

DeGeneres accepted the delivery on the show and presented Alexis with a check for $3,500.
