Nieces, nephews host dinner party for Gries 60th



LIBERTY -- Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gries of Liberty were honored Jan. 13 during a dinner party held in McKinley Heights on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary.
Nieces and nephews of the couple were hosts for the event that took place at the Scenna Family Restaurant.
The former Ginger Tarolla and Mr. Gries were united in marriage Jan. 11, 1947, at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown, where they are members.
Mrs. Gries, who is retired, was employed by General Fireproofing and Keslar Products in Youngstown. She played baseball and coached and managed girls' teams.
Mr. Gries received a Purple Heart after serving with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a head mechanic for 39 years with the U.S. Postal Service in Youngstown prior to retiring in 1984.
