BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Geneva nearly upset the NAIA's third-ranked team, but came up short as Point Park won its 18th straight game in an American Mideast Conference matchup. Jermaine Ferguson scored 23 points for the Golden Tornadoes (8-8, 0-1). Chivas Whipple and Ryne Liggins each had 19 points for Point Park (18-0, 3-0).
WOMEN
Geneva 73, Point Park 53
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Geneva (11-2) won its seventh straight and improved to 4-0 in the AMC. Geneva took just a 12-point lead into the locker room, but extended its margin to as many as 33 points (71-38) with just under five minutes to play. Geneva enjoyed a balanced offensive attack led by Allyson Clarke's 17 points. Renee Rawding added 12 points and Jackie Anthony and Lauren Uranker each chipped in with 10 points in the victory. Point Park got a game high 23 points from Ashleigh Hays. Head coach Ron Galbreath, who reached his 600th career victory last Saturday night, was recognized for his accomplishments after Thursday night's victory.
