Flu outbreak restricts hospital visitors
NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Jameson Memorial Hospital is temporarily limiting patient visitors because of a recent influenza outbreak.
Susan Galvin, hospital spokeswoman, said officials started limiting visitors Monday and intend to keep the limit in place until further notice.
She said there had been an influx of people with the flu coming to the hospital in the past week.
The limitation of visitors extends to all areas of care, including the emergency department and surgical areas.
The limited visitation will help reduce the high incidence of respiratory infections and maintain an environment more conducive to healing.
Certain circumstances may require visitation, and in such cases, families are asked to inform the nursing staff, and efforts will be made to accommodate them.
