Heroes breakfast to honor area residents

BOARDMAN -- The fourth annual Heroes of the Mahoning Valley Breakfast will honor local residents chosen by the Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross for their acts of courage, hours donated for the betterment of the community, and unusual kindness and unselfish character through their actions.
Heroes who will be honored are the pupils of Boardman Center Middle School and ROCcK Children's Choir as youth Samaritans; Debbie Crater of Liberty as an animal caregiver; Jim Groner of Petersburg in the community impact category; Barbara Hoch of Youngstown as a good neighbor; and Mary Weldele of Poland in the educator category.
The breakfast will be from 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 13 at Antone's Banquet Centre, Market Street near Western Reserve Road.
Scott Schneider, WFMJ Channel 21 "Today Show" anchor, will host the event, which is sponsored by JP Morgan Chase.
Tickets are 15, which includes the breakfast and awards ceremony.
