EVENT Rotary sets date for annual charity auction

Community service activities will be supported by funds from the benefit.
BOARDMAN -- Jan. 26 has been chosen as the date for the 21st annual Charity Auction to be held at 6 p.m. at The Georgetown, 5945 South Ave., as a fundraiser sponsored by Poland Rotary.
Proceeds from the event will support many community service activities organized and operated by the organization.
Tickets are 35 and must be purchased in advance. They can be obtained from any member of Poland Rotary or at www.polandrotary.org. The cost includes dinner at 6:30, an evening of jazz music and the opportunity to participate in live and Chinese auctions that will get under way at 7:30 p.m.
Recipients of funds
In addition to its annual dinner and auction, the group raises funds with its Chili Open Golf Outing each February and the Poland Rotary Golf Outing each September.
Among the organizations supported by Poland Rotary are: Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, Boys and Girls Club of Youngstown, Rich Center for Autism, American Heart Association, CASA-Court Appointed Special Advocate, American Diabetes Association, Junior Achievement, Help Hotline, Multiple Sclerosis Services Agency, SVC Agency, Millcreek Children's Center, Sojourner House, Easter Seals, YMCA of Youngstown, Ursuline HIV/AIDS Ministry, Poland Interfaith Pantry and Youngstown Hearing and Speech Center.
Goals of organization
Rotary International is an organization of business and professional leaders and politicians who are united to provide humanitarian services, to encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and to help build goodwill and peace worldwide.
Mary Ann Martinko is chairman of the charity auction committee, and Michael Klim is president of Poland Rotary.
