'the o.c.' gets the ax
"The O.C.," the once-hot teenage soap opera that saw its ratings plummet like a delinquent student's grades, has been canceled.
The final episode of the drama will air 9 p.m. Feb. 22, Fox TV and Warner Bros. Television Production Inc. said Wednesday.
The finale "will deliver real closure to the series, to the story we began telling four years ago," series creator Josh Schwartz said in a statement. "It will be fun and emotional and I think really satisfying. It is the finale we always planned to do."
omarion is on top
From humble Inglewood, Calif., to the top of the national pop chart -- that's the path R & amp;B singer Omarion has taken with his second album, "21," which claims the No. 1 spot with first-week sales of 119,000 copies. That makes two in a row for the former B2K lead singer, erstwhile rapper and sometime actor, whose 2005 debut album, "O," also started out as the nation's bestselling album, according to the Nielsen SoundScan sales monitoring service.
The "21" album, which includes the single "Ice Box," produced by Timbaland, led a flood of R & amp;B and hip-hop releases in the chart's upper reaches, a common occurrence in the week following Christmas, when young music fans spend their holiday gift certificates.
video game outlook
Here's a roundup of new video games that are getting the most buzz:
Xbox 360: Top of the list is "Mass Effect," a futuristic role-playing game from "Jade Empire" developer BioWare. Other potential system-sellers include the sci-fi shooter "Too Human" and two RPGs from a team of "Final Fantasy" veterans, "Blue Dragon" and "Lost Odyssey." Beyond Microsoft's in-house operation, the most eagerly awaited title is 2K's eerie undersea adventure "BioShock," the spiritual sequel to the much-loved "System Shock 2."
PlayStation 3: Getting the most attention is "Heavenly Sword," a gorgeous-looking swordplay adventure, but the racing game "MotorStorm" and the card game "The Eye of Judgment" also hold promise. We're actually more psyched about "Rogue Galaxy," a PlayStation 2 space opera from the creators of "Dark Cloud 2."
Wii: Franchises coming to the Wii in 2007 include "Super Mario Galaxy," "Wario Ware: Smooth Moves," "Super Paper Mario," "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" and "Metroid Prime 3: Corruption."
