City council targets employment

SALEM -- Council will meet as a committee of the whole Monday to discuss employment issues in the city.
Council members already had set other committee meetings starting at 5 p.m.
Council members earlier this week lamented job losses in the city. The latest may be Sekely Industries, which indicated it may close its tool and die operation, which could cost the city 110 jobs.
The company recently filed a 22.5 million mortgage agreement with Wells Fargo Bank at the Columbiana County Recorder's Office.
Several councilmen said Thursday that they were unaware of the filing and what it might mean. They said it was unlikely they would be able to get information from the company.
