Warren woman sentenced for child prostitution
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A woman pleaded guilty Wednesday to bringing two teenage girls from Ohio to Pittsburgh for sex, though her boyfriend was earlier acquitted of a similar charge.
Pamela Tilley, 47, of Warren, Ohio, pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of transporting two individuals across state lines with intent to have them engage in unlawful sexual activity.
Prosecutors said Tilley and Greg Lowery, also of Warren, had arranged to sell the 15-year-old runaway to a man for sex in exchange for crack cocaine.
Tilley and Lowery were arrested in August 2005 after police said they found them sleeping in a sport utility vehicle in the city along with the runaway and a 13-year-old girl.
An affidavit described the 13-year-old as an escapee from a placement center in Ohio, though authorities wouldn’t say how the couple knew the girls.
A jury in November acquitted Lowery of conspiracy to transport an individual under the age of 18 across state lines with intent to engage in prostitution or in unlawful sexual activity.
Tilley was sentenced 503 days in prison, which is the amount of time she has been in jail since her arrest.
