Police probe South Side shootings

YOUNGSTOWN — Police are investigating two shootings that occurred about 4 p.m. Monday on the South Side.

Edwin Lacey, 19, of Hudson Avenue reported to police that he was walking on Hillman Avenue and had just turned onto Hylda Avenue when he heard between 10 and 20 shots fired.

One of them hit him in the arm, and he fell to the ground. After the shooting stopped, he went to his aunt’s house and called an ambulance.

He was treated at St. Elizabeth Health Center.

In the other shooting, Anthony Crockett, 23, of Hylda Avenue said he was stopped at a traffic light at South and Boston avenues when people in two other cars started shooting.

Crockett told police he got out of the car, started running and was shot in the leg. When the shooting was over, his cousin, who had been in the car with him, drove him to St. Elizabeth.

Crockett also was released after treatment.
