Mailman robbed on city’s East Side

YOUNGSTOWN — A letter carrier told police he was robbed of his dog spray Wednesday afternoon after delivering mail in the 1300 block of Forestview Avenue on the city’s East Side.

The postal worker said that, as he returned to his truck, a man, likely 30 years old, approached and tried to prevent him from getting in the vehicle. The suspect grabbed the letter carrier, reached in his coat, took the dog spray and then tried to grab the keys from the ignition, reports show.

The postal worker hit the man on the left arm and was able to drive away. Police who searched the area didn’t find the suspect.
