Sentencings

These people were sentenced in Mercer County Common Pleas Court last week:

Sandra Elrod, 47, of Ridge Avenue, Sharpsville, sentenced to six to 18 months in the Mercer County Jail followed by a one-year probation for felony access device fraud and misdemeanor forgery. She also was ordered to make restitution. Court documents state that between May and July, 2006, Elrod used another person’s credit card to obtain $10,305 in goods, services and cash advances and also forged checks for $680.

Justin Odem, 23, of Emerson Avenue, Farrell, sentenced to one to three years in prison and ordered to make restitution for carrying a firearm without a license and institutional vandalism, both misdemeanors, and for possession with intent to deliver cocaine, a felony. Court documents said he was apprehended Jan. 16 on Hamilton Avenue, Farrell, with a loaded firearm and an unspecified amount of cocaine. On the same day, he intentionally ripped a mattress and clogged a toilet in a cell at the Southwest Regional jail, 500 Roemer Blvd., Farrell.

Anthony Phillips, 40, of Alderman Avenue, Sharon, placed on a one-year probation for misdemeanor retail theft. Court documents state he stole three DVDs valued at $60 from Wal-Mart, 1275 N. Hermitage Road, Hermitage, his second shoplifting offense.

Julio Rivera, 31, of Elizabeth, N.J., sentenced to six to 24 months in the Mercer County Jail for felony retail theft for stealing $6,629 worth of clothing from Banana Republic at Prime Outlets in Springfield Township on June 9 .

Krista Boyd, 45, of Bush Road, Jamestown, placed on two years’ probation and ordered to make restitution for theft by unlawful taking. Court documents state that on four occasions between Oct. 27 and Dec. 30, 2006, she created fraudulent merchandise returns for $454 at Banana Republic at Prime Outlets, Springfield Township, and also stole two sweaters valued at $75.
