Crestview wins twice; Girard downs Howland

Boardman won two in Beloit and Mooney defeated three opponents at home.

NEW WATERFORD -- The unbeaten Crestview High volleyball team handed Jackson-Milton its first loss of the season Saturday by scores of 25-12, 25-10.

Elyse Mongillo made 22 assists for the Rebels (7-0) and Chelsea Bowker made seven kills and five aces.

Katie Gettman led the Bluejays with nine digs. Alyssa Chine had four kills and a ace.

Crestview 25-25, LaBrae 13-21

NEW WATERFORD -- Mongillo paced the Rebels with 14 assists and four aces. Bowker made six kills, three blocks and three digs. Kyler Thompson made seven kills.

Stepfanie Higgins led the Vikings (2-4) with seven kills. Lindsey Higgins had eight assists.

In another match, LaBrae lost to Jackson-Milton by scores of 25-17, 25-17.

Salem 25-25-25, Lake 16-19-13

SALEM -- Brittany Gregory and Amy Scullion each three aces and 12 kills for the Quakers (6-0). Sarah Brobeck made 10 kills while Taylor Toothman made 47 assists.

Lake is 3-3.

JVs: Salem, 25-18, 23-25, 25-21.

Girard 25-25, Springfield 20-19

GIRARD -- Mari Flynn led the Indians with eight kills while Chelsea Guerrieri had four points and five kills.

Elise Roscoe scored five points, four kills, three blocks and seven digs. Aysha Nickels had 11 points with two aces, three kills, 24 assists and two digs.

Howland 25-16-25, Springfield 18-25-23

GIRARD -- Taylor Summerfield scored eight points with three aces, four kills, four blocks, 47 assists and a dig. Kaitlyn Flick scored seven points with two aces, 12 kills, three blocks, one assist and a dig.

Yeager paced the Tigers (5-3) with five points with three aces, eight kills and three blocks. Brittany Schrieber had six points, six kills and 12 digs.

Girard 25-25, Howland 20-15

GIRARD -- Nickels sparked the Indians (7-0) with 15 points, six aces, one kill, one block, 15 assists and three digs. Cassie Guerrieri had five points, four kills and nine digs. Lauren Chiec had nine points and seven digs.

Summerfield led the Tigers (3-2) four points, one ace, four kills, 14 assists and three saves. Kelly Barzak had four points, five kills, two blocks and one dig.

Boardman 25-25, West Branch 21-22

BELOIT -- Danielle Bletso paced the Spartans with seven kills and six blocks. Courtney Schiffhauer had eight kills and Danielle Williams made 16 assists.

Alisha Wartluft led the Warriors with six points, three kills and seven passes. Kelsey Wartluft had eight kills, six blocks and 10 passes.

JVs: Boardman 25-6, 25-13.

West Branch 25-22-25, United 17-25-17

BELOIT -- Alisha Wartluft scored 12 points for the Warriors (4-5). Kelsey Wartluft had seven points, nine kills and 11 passes.

JVs: United 25-11, 25-20.

Boardman 25-25, United 18-20

BELOIT -- Schiffauer scored eight points and she had 10 kills and six blocks for the Spartans (4-4). Bletso had six kills and Danielle Williams 18 assists.

JVs: Boardman 25-18, 25-22.

Mooney 25-25, Lowellville 21-19

YOUNGSTOWN -- Vickie Kocanger led the Cardinals with 14 points, four aces and four kills. Kelly Donoghue had 12 assists in the Cardinals' gymnasium.

Mooney 25-26, St. Thomas Aquinas 21-24

YOUNGSTOWN -- Brittany Bleggi sparked the Cardinals (5-0) with four blocks and six kills. Kocanger had seven kills and three blocks.

Mooney 25-25, Warren JFK 18-17

YOUNGSTOWN -- Kaley Donoghue scored eight points and had seven assists. Sarah Pelini made 16 digs.

Lordstown 25-25, Sebring 11-14

NEWTON FALLS -- Megan Gibson led the Red Devils with 10 kills and seven blocks. Karly Gibbs had 12 assists while Amanda Wickline scored 13 points and four aces.

Lordstown 25-25, Newton Falls 17-17

NEWTON FALLS -- Gibson had 12 kills, seven digs and eight blocks for the Red Devils (6-1). Gibbs scored 12 points with three aces and eight assists.

Brookfield 25-25-25, Badger 7-20-8

BROOKFIELD -- Morgan Bonekovic scored 19 points and had 10 kills, five digs and four digs for the Warriors. Taralee Williams scored 13 points and 21 assists and four aces.

Champion 25-19-25, Bristol 23-25-15

CHAMPION -- Amy Allen led the Golden Flashes (3-4) with 11 kills. Le Ann Thompson had 18 assists. Ashley Schreckengast paced Bristol with four kills, three aces and one block.

Conneaut 25-24-25, Champion 16-26-16

CHAMPION -- Amy Allen paced the Golden Flashes with nine kills and three blocks.

JVs: Conneaut, 14-25, 25-10, 25-22.
