Howland stays perfect with victory over Niles

The Cardinals outlasted the Bulldogs in five sets for a 3-0 MAC mark.

NILES -- Taylor Summerfield had 21 points, eight aces, five kills, 18 assists and four blocks, as Howland High defeated Niles, 25-14, 25-6, 25-17, in a Metro Athletic Conference volleyball match Tuesday.

Kelly Barzak had five points, 13 kills, three assists and four blocks for the Tigers (2-0, 2-0 MAC), while Katlyn Flick had eight points, four kills and three blocks.

For Niles (1-3, 0-3), Allie Moss had 11 points, two aces, two kills, three assists, three digs and two saves, Karla Durig had five points, three kills, four blocks, two digs and Hannah Newbrough had 10 digs.

JVs: Howland 25-18, 25-16.

Canfield 25-22-27-20-15,Poland 11-25-25-25-6

CANFIELD -- Jackie Nentwick had 13 blocks, 12 kills and 12 points while Kalie Luklan added seven blocks, 14 kills, 11 points and three aces to lead Canfield past Poland.

Meg Andrews contributed eight blocks and five kills and Kelsey Owen 14 kills, six digs, three points and two aces for the Cardinals (3-2, 3-0 MAC).

For Poland (1-2, 1-2), Ashley Conger had 20 points, 23 assists and 14 digs, Doni Muransky had 19 kills and Leanna Yeager three blocks.

JVs: Canfield, 2-0

Salem 25-25-25, East Liverpool 10-11-8

EAST LIVERPOOL -- Brittany Gregory had three aces and nine kills, Sarah Brobeck had nine kills and Katie Scullion added four aces, four kills and one block to lead Salem (4-0).

JVs: Salem 22-25, 25-13, 25-22.

Struthers 25-25-25, Campbell 18-14-13

CAMPBELL -- Amanda Belasco had five kills, Amy Wess had 27 points and Ashley Stein had nine assists for Struthers (2-2, 2-1).

For Campbell (0-4, 0-4), Jamie Dolan had four aces, Kelli Zembillas had four kills and Taylor Burton had two blocks.

JVs: Struthers 25-11, 25-14.

Chaney 25-25-25, Wilson 22-19-19

YOUNGSTOWN -- Antoinette Smith had 12 points, Stephanie Merrell had four aces and six kills and Jacquela Teamor added 17 assists for Chaney (3-2).

For the Redmen (0-3), Beth Kotapish scored 14 points with four kills, Raven Bradley had 11 points and 15 sets and Aida Rivera had 10 points and four kills.

JVs: Chaney 25-9, 25-14.

Mooney 25-25-25, Ursuline 9-9-10

YOUNGSTOWN -- Dayna Daltorio scored 19 points with six aces and six kills for Mooney (1-0, 1-0 Steel Valley Conference).

Kelly Donoghue had 15 assists and Katy Cerni had seven digs and two kills.

Angeline Rich led the Irish (0-6, 0-3) with four digs.

Dominique Jenkins had two blocks.

JVs: Mooney 25-14, 25-20.

Fitch 25-25-25,Canton McKinley 14-20-18

CANTON -- Hope Sweany led the Falcons (2-0, 2-0 Federal League) with 26 digs and two aces, Lindsay Von Schwarz had eight assists, five kills and six points and Caitlin O'Patchen had 13 assists, seven kills and 12 points.

JVs: Fitch 25-7, 25-10.

United 25-25-24-21-15,Mineral Ridge 12-19-26-25-10

HANOVERTON -- Lindsay Firth scored 16 points, with five aces for the Golden Eagles (3-2). Darlene Woolf had 12 kills.

Heather Reinhart led the Rams with eight kills.

Taylor Shiley had six kills and Sarah Garland had 38 digs.

JVs: United 25-13, 25-18.

Crestview 25-25-25,East Palestine 20-13-13

NEW WATERFORD -- Julie Simmons scored 15 points, with eight aces, 14 kills and five digs for the Rebels (4-0). Elyse Mongillo had 18 points, 37 assists, four aces and three kills.

Sarah Stewart led the Bulldogs (2-3, 2-1 Inter-Tri-County League) with eight points, three aces, 10 kills and seven blocks.

Emily Sansenbarder had seven points, four kills, three blocks and two aces.

Jackson-Milton 25-14-26-16-15,Wellsville 21-25-24-25-11

NORTH JACKSON -- Krista Kiraly had 20 points, three aces, 15 kills, 39 attacks and 40 digs to lead Jackson-Milton (2-0, 2-0 ITCL).

Scarlett Chepke added 11 kills and 22 attacks, Jennifer Kolasky 55 sets and 18 assists and Laura Yash five solo successes to aid the winners.

For Wellsville (2-1, 2-1), Jasmine Richardson had 20 kills, Kelsey Lyle nine kills and five solo successes and Sarah Drysdale 40 assists.

JVs: Jackson-Milton 25-23, 25-10

Louisville 25-25-25, West Branch 19-22-13

LOUISVILLE -- Sammie Snyder had 12 points and three assists, while Diana Wallace had seven kills and three blocks for West Branch (2-4, 0-4 Northeastern Buckeye Conference). Louisville is 4-0.

JVs: Louisville 25-16, 25-11.

Lordstown 25-25-25, Bloomfield 10-18-20

BLOOMFIELD -- Meagan Gibson had seven kills, three digs and seven blocks, Alisha Miller had six assists and four aces and Brianna Blodgett had 16 points for Lordstown (4-1, 2-0 Northeastern Athletic Conference).

JVs: Lordstown 25-7, 25-14.

Heartland Chr. 7-25-21-26-15,Lake Center Chr. 25-23-25-24-13

HARTVILLE -- Brittany Richter led Lions (1-2) with nine kills and 14 digs. Lauren Mitchell had 16 assists. Kimberly Stearns had 14 digs.
