First Book taking grant applications

WARREN -- First Book-Trumbull County is accepting book grant applications from local nonprofit programs serving children in need.
First Book-Trumbull County hopes to grant several thousand new books to programs in the county. Teachers and directors of preschools, day cares, after-school, tutoring and mentoring organizations are invited to apply.
To be eligible, organizations are required to incorporate reading/literacy activities as part of their program; serve children and families from low-income households; and provide multiple distributions of books to the children in the program.
Grant applications are due by Oct. 31.
Each child participating will be given his or her own new books through the coming year, enabling them to begin their own home libraries that they can share with families and friends. Book grants are made possible through local fund-raising efforts of the First Book-Trumbull County Local Advisory Board.
