MALONE COLLEGE, Canton
Three area students served on the homecoming court during last weekend's festivities at Malone. Samantha M. Hrbolich, daughter of Nick and Katherine Hrbolich of Cortland, was a freshman attendant. Roger A. Blevins, son of Ron and Patt Blevins of Austintown, and Mackenzie J. Schaffer, daughter of Bob and Connie Schaffer of Salem, were senior attendants.
YOUNGSTOWN STATE UNIVERSITY
Aaron C. Vaccar and Candace A. Madden, both of Canfield, have been inducted into Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honors Organization. Sigma Alpha Lambda promotes and rewards academic achievement and provides members with opportunities for community service, personal development and professional fulfillment.
MOUNT UNION COLLEGE, Alliance
Beatrice Petzinger, a senior music education major from Poland, participated in the Vocal Showcase Recital earlier this month. The program features student performances of classics by Schubert, Beethoven and others. Petzinger sang a piece by Gustav Mahler and then performed a duet with another student on a piece by Lucy Simon.
BALDWIN -WALLACE COLLEGE, Berea
Sal DeJulio, son of Sue and Sal DeJulio of Hubbard, was nominated for Homecoming Jacket Prince to represent the freshman class on the homecoming court earlier this month. He represented the Panhellenic Council and is a freshman business administration major.
Michele Mrosko, daughter of Jeff and Carla Mrosko of Liberty, has been elected as the sophomore class secretary. She is a marketing major with minors in chemistry and communications studies. She is a member of Delta Zeta sorority, a Yellow Jacket cheerleader and is active in BUZZ TV programming. She is a 2005 graduate of Liberty High School.
ASHLAND UNIVERSITY, Ashland, Ohio
Amber Colello, daughter of Christopher and Ruthann Colello of Austintown, is a member of Panhellenic Council. She is a political science major. Panhellenic Council is composed of representatives from each sorority on the Ashland campus. Its purpose is to govern the sororities in the areas of academics, philanthropy, unity, membership selection and service to the campus.
Kelly Moore, daughter of Donald and Deborah Moore of Cortland, is the secretary of Andrews Hall Council at Ashland University. The purpose of house councils is to discuss policies within the individual residence halls and sponsor events for the residents.
JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY, Cleveland
Kathleen Rex, a 2005 Ursuline graduate and currently a John Carroll University sophomore, was recently inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society for high academic achievement in institutions of higher learning. Known as Katie, she is a biology major and the daughter of Pat and Don Rex of Girard.
FRANCIS MARION UNIVERSITY, Florence, S.C.
John P. Sweeney of Poland has been named an Academic Scholar for 2006-07. The award includes a scholarship that can be renewed for up to three years if the recipient maintains a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
