U.S. deaths and damage from five hurricanes that struck the United States in 2005, according to the National Hurricane Center. No hurricane has hit the United States this year.

HURRICANE CINDY

Landfall: July 6 near Grand Isle, La.

Deaths: 1

Estimated damage: 320 million.

HURRICANE DENNIS

Landfall: July 10 on Santa Rosa Island, Fla.

Deaths: 3

Estimated damage: 2.23 billion.

HURRICANE KATRINA

Landfall: Aug. 25 in South Florida; Aug. 29 along Louisiana-Mississippi line.

Deaths: 1,833

Estimated damage: 81 billion.

HURRICANE RITA

Landfall: Sept. 23 along Texas-Louisiana line.

Deaths: 62

Estimated damage: 10 billion.

HURRICANE WILMA

Landfall: Oct. 24 in southwestern Florida.

Deaths: 5

Estimated damage: 20.6 billion.
