6 people arrested in OVI checkpoint

YOUNGSTOWN -- Six people were arrested during a sobriety checkpoint conducted by the Mahoning County OVI Task Force.

The checkpoint for impaired drivers was from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday on South Avenue.

Police reported that one person was arrested for OVI (operating vehicle impaired), one was arrested for underage drinking, and four people were arrested for driving under suspension.

The task force also:

*Diverted 41 vehicles to enter the checkpoint for inspection.

*Issued one operator's license citation.

*Issued 38 restraint citations.

*Seized five vehicles.
