Boardman gets first Federal League win, beating GlenOak

Fitch suffered a 20-0 defeat to Uniontown Lake.

BOARDMAN -- Tyler Amendola scored two touchdowns and Boardman's defense limited Canton GlenOak to just 121 yards total offense in the Spartans' 16-0 win Friday night.

Amendola scored on runs of 25 and 19 yards, and finished with 104 yards on 16 carries for the Spartans (3-6, 1-5 Federal).

The Spartan defense, which limited GlenOak (3-6, 1-5) to 65 rushing yards, also recorded a safety in the third period.

Bob Bovara added 72 yards on 12 carries as Boardman amassed 282 yards on the ground.

Uniontown Lake 20,Fitch 0

AUSTINTOWN -- Michael Rutan scored a pair of touchdowns and a ball-control attack kept Fitch's offense at bay.

Rutan scored on a 31-yard pass from T.J. Viscuso and on a 61-yard interception return for the Blue Streaks (5-4, 3-4 Federal).

Lake doubled Fitch (3-6, 1-5) in time of possession and held the Falcons to just 151 yards total offense.

Gene Onabiyi, who scored on a 30-yard run, had 111 yards on 30 carries to lead Lake.

J.J. Pankewicz had 58 yards on 18 carries for the Falcons.

Canton South 14,West Branch 7

BELOIT -- Mike McKinney's 38-yard interception return with 47 seconds remaining lifted Canton South to a Northeastern Buckeye Conference victory over West Branch.

After the Warriors (5-4, 2-4 NBC) tied the count a 7-7 on Steve McNeely's 1-yard quarterback run with 3:14 remaining, the West Branch defense forced a Canton South (6-3, 4-2) punt. But McKinney picked off McNeely's pass in the closing minute for the win.

West Branch dominated the contest, outgaining Canton South 333-172, but two interceptions proved costly for the Warriors.

McNeely completed 22-of-35 passes for 230 yards with Patrick Stecker on the receiving end of six completions for 66 yards. Jeremiah James had five catches for 85 yards and Chad Butcher five for 57 yards.

Eric Bates had eight carries for 85 yards for the Warriors.

Devoe Torrence, who scored on a 25-yard pass from Matt Trissel, had seven receptions for 84 yards as Trissle finished 11-of-20 for 125 yards. Torrence also had nine carries for 37 yards.

Southeast 34,Norton 21

RAVENNA -- Zack Raynish scored three touchdowns, two on passes from Alex Blake as Southeast rolled past Norton.

Raynish also scored on a 60-yard pass interception for the Pirates (5-4, 3-3 Portage Trail Conference).

Blake finished 7-of-14 for 173 yards and three touchdowns, while Chad Eatinger rushed for 99 yards on seven carries and one touchdown.
