The 1977 accident, in which two fully loaded Boeing 747s slammed into each other, occurred after the threat of a terrorist bomb diverted traffic to a smaller, more crowded airport. This program looks at the accident investigation and recounts the stories of survivors -- including passengers, a co-pilot and a flight attendant. It also reports on improvements in runway safety and illustrates recent near misses, using forensic animation from the National Transportation Safety Board.
"VH-1 Hip Hop Honors: (9 p.m., VH-1): The music channel celebrates hip-hip innovators including the Beastie Boys, Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim and Russell Simmons, among others, at its third annual awards show. Rapper Ice-T hosts this year's show, which includes performances by some of hip-hop's biggest and brightest stars.
