Physical, mental and artistic courses are available.
YOUNGSTOWN --The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown is offering a variety of after-school programs for children in kindergarten through the seventh grade at its facilities at 505 Gypsy Lane.
The nonprofit organization provides fitness, aquatics and early childhood services to people of all ages, races and religions.
The after-school programs begin this week. They are:
Junior NBA/WNBA: Children learn basic basketball techniques and then get to compete in the Junior NBA/WNBA League in February. The cost is 50 for center members, 65 for guests and 40 for children already enrolled in the Early Childhood/Before and After School Program.
K-second grade: Mondays from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. through Jan. 8.
Third-seventh grade: Thursdays from 4:15 to 5:15 p.m. through Jan. 11.
Red, Yellow and Blue Paint: The class teaches children the use of different paint media using these three colors. The cost is 30 for members, 35 for guests and 10 for Early Childhood/Before and After School participants.
Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. through Nov. 1.
Brain Twisters: Children learn to think while playing cards and memory games and figuring out puzzles. The cost is 30 for members, 35 for guests and 10 for Early Childhood/Before and After School participants.
Mondays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. through Oct. 30.
Sculpting Class: Children will learn the fundamentals of sculpting and pottery as well as learn about famous sculptors throughout history in this 10-week course. The cost is 40 for members, 55 for guests and 30 for Early Childhood/Before and After School participants.
