FAA safety seminar
VIENNA -- Corbi Aircraft Sales will host a Federal Aviation Administration safety seminar at 8 a.m. Oct. 7 during Aviation Day at the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport.
Corbi, which is located at the Salem Air Park, will display several aircraft. Such an event is often called a fly-in because pilots attending the seminar generally fly in, and their aircraft are generally available for viewing, said Ron Corbi, president of Corbi Aircraft.
Mikee's 2, the restaurant inside the airport terminal, will be open for breakfast. The seminar will start at 10 a.m. Other sponsors are Winner Aviation and Western Reserve Flight Center. For more information, call (330) 337-1181.
Family Dollar groceries
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Family Dollar Stores Inc. plans to offer more groceries in its stores and begin accepting food stamps, a move aimed at making the North Carolina-based discount chain a lower-priced competitor to convenience stores.
Through adding more perishable food to the traditional dollar-store product mix, Avondale Partners analyst Patrick McKeever said the strategy may grab customers who are looking for quick shopping stops between larger grocery trips.
That convenience is a way to set Family Dollar apart from "big box" stores like Wal-Mart, which also compete for low-income customers, McKeever said.
