"American Experience" (9 p.m., PBS): On the 50th anniversary of the Broadway debut of "Long Day's Journey Into Night," filmmaker Ric Burns explores the life and art of Eugene O'Neill, who fellow playwright Tennessee Williams said "gave birth to the American theater, and died for it." The study of O'Neill, who was showered with four Pulitzer Prizes and a Nobel Prize, unfolds gracefully through interviews with leading theater figures.
"Dark Kingdom: The Dragon King" (9 p.m., Sci Fi): The same German myth that inspired the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy is the basis for this miniseries, which airs in two-hour parts today and Tuesday. The adventure-fantasy, set in the Dark Ages, follows a prince who grows up as a blacksmith, unaware of his royal heritage until the gods point him toward a fallen meteor.
"Everwood" (8 p.m., WB): Are Ephram and Amy getting back together on "Everwood"? The small-town soap finally returns from a long hiatus -- on a new night -- with two fresh episodes. The story picks up a week after the former lovebirds slept together and has them wondering what this new development means for their future.
