WARREN -- The W.D. Packard Concert Band will present "Charms and Marches and Some Irish Too!" at 3 p.m. Sunday in Packard Music Hall.
Robert D. Jorgenson will be the guest conductor. He is the director of bands at the University of Akron.
Travis W. Smith, principal euphonium in the University of Akron Symphonic Band, will be the euphonium soloist.
The concert program includes "The Star Spangled Banner," "The Stars and Stripes Forever," the symphonic suite from "Far and Away" and an Irish suite.
The performance is free and open to the public. The music hall is located at 1703 Mahoning Ave.
Kent Trumbull Theatreseeks summer interns
CHAMPION -- Kent Trumbull Theatre is seeking high school students as candidates for its internship in technical theatre.
The internship will include training in scenery, scene painting, properties, lighting, sound and costuming. The commitment for interns includes 15 hours per week for eight weeks and crewing a show. At the end of the summer, successful interns will receive a check for $500. Interested students should call Dr. Daniel Nadon at (330) 847-8700. All applications must be turned in before April 1.
Rock festival
GIRARD -- The Girard High School junior class is sponsoring a St. Patrick's Day rock festival Friday at the high school auditorium from 6 to 10:30 p.m. All ages and schools are invited. Tickets are $5 each. Featured bands are Made In Canada, Ten Count Fall and The Rydells.
Miniature masterpieces
MENTOR -- Gallery One's famed annual Masterworks in Miniature opens Friday in Mentor with a wine and cheese celebration and the unveiling of 150 small works of art.
"The demand for the miniature masterpieces is so intense," said Alan Brown, Gallery One president, "that prospective buyers must submit 'intent to purchase' forms in hopes of 'being drawn' to buy their favorites."
While some of the Masterworks will fit in the palm of one's hand, others are as large as 9 inches by 12 inches, the show's maximum.
