WARREN U.S. lease granted for building

WARREN -- The U.S. General Services Administration has awarded a $2.91 million contract to Gibson Real Estate Management Ltd. of Warren.
The contract is for the lease or rental of facilities and was awarded by GSA's Public Buildings Service, Office of Customer Solutions, Chicago.
The Warren office of the Social Security Administration will relocate to the first floor of the Gibson Building at 258 E. Market St. in 2007.
The Gibson Building has been vacant for two years.
A week ago, Barry Linville, manager of the Warren Social Security Office, said the current office space at 1353 E. Market, across from Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital, is getting cramped. It occupies 8,000 feet on the second floor of the building owned by Forum Health.
Linville said the Gibson Building "better fits our needs."
The agency has 26 employees, and there is space for 30 workers in the new building. Linville said the target date to move into the Gibson Building is Jan. 1, 2007.
One of the reasons the building was selected is the parking space to the rear of the building, which can accommodate at least 100 vehicles.
Between 100 and 150 people walk in to conduct Social Security business each day at the Warren site. It services 50,000 Trumbull County residents, sending out $40 million in checks monthly.
The second and third floors of the Gibson Building is one of the sites being considered by the city of Warren for a "one-stop" facility, in which to consolidate more city offices into one building. Each floor has 10,000 square feet.
